The region

Discover the North of Portugal and enjoy an unforgettable holiday.

The North Region of Portugal is of great historical and cultural importance.

From here Portugal was born as a nation, during the 12th century.

The region is full of beautiful beaches, mountains and natural parks, dotted with castles, such as that of Guimarães (the place where Portugal was born). Porto is a must-visit World Heritage city, known for its Port Wine.

The city of Braga is full of shrines, churches, sacred places and museums, which boast luxurious interiors with golden inscriptions, and appear as living icons of religious tradition.

The excellent place for eco-tourism is the Peneda Gerês National Park, but the region has several natural parks where it is easy to enjoy contact with nature, such as the Litoral Norte Natural Park.

Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde are an excellent base for exploring the northern region of the country, due to the excellent road and rail connections.

Vila do Conde

Feel the pulse of a quiet city, without rushing.

Walking through the city means finding low houses, narrow streets and cobblestone pavements and coming across the monumentality of the Santa Clara Monastery and its Aqueduct, which define the silhouette of the old town.
Vila do Conde, your destination of charm.

Porto (and Douro)

Among countless bridges, beaches, museums and entertainment venues, the Historic Centre of Porto has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.

Renowned for its wine and gastronomic quality, the Cidade Invicta is rich in history, art and culture. Curiously, it was Porto that originated the name of the country - Portugal, when it was still called Portus Cale in Roman times.

A must-see is the Douro, where the river meanders between the vineyards in a landscape of unparalleled beauty.

Known as the City of Archbishops, Braga is one of the oldest cities in Portugal. It has over 2000 years of history and dates back to Roman times, when it was called Bracara Augusta.

With attractions such as the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, recognized as a National Monument and the Braga Cathedral, it is also the gateway to the beautiful National Park of Peneda-Gerês, considered by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve, for the conservation of its landscape, fauna and flora.
